Dr. Reddy upgrades 27th PHC in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district

Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 30 (UNI) Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has upgraded the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Ganguvada in Srikakulam district and handed it over to the Andhra Pradesh Health Department to strengthen primary healthcare services in rural areas.
The Ganguvada PHC is the 27th facility upgraded under the company’s “Strengthening Healthcare Infra and Allied Activities” programme since September 2022, Hyderabad based pharma giant said in a release on Friday.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Located in Pathapatnam mandal, about 68 km from the district headquarters, the PHC caters to a population of 33,979 across 59 villages and 9,878 households.
It is also linked to nine Grama Sachivalayams and eight Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
The upgrade included improvements to diagnostic and laboratory facilities, installation of new testing and blood-processing equipment, uninterrupted purified water supply, liquid waste management systems and better sanitation and other infrastructure.
The facility has also been equipped with an upgraded labour room in accordance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS), along with improved maternal and child healthcare services, infection prevention measures and standardised pharmacy and inventory management systems.
Healthcare personnel were trained in maternal and neonatal care, emergency obstetric services, newborn care, emergency stabilisation and referral management.
The training also covered handling critical cases involving cardiac emergencies, trauma, poisoning and snake bites.
The upgraded facility was inaugurated and formally handed over to the Andhra Pradesh Health Department in the presence of Dr. N. Himasri, Drawing and Disbursing Officer, B. Linga Murthy, Health Extension Officer, representatives of Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, healthcare personnel and community representatives.
Kumar Randhir Singh, Company Secretary, Compliance Officer and Head of CSR, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, said the initiative aimed at strengthening public healthcare facilities and ensuring access to quality medical services closer to people's homes.
He said the programme demonstrated the potential of government-industry partnerships in improving public healthcare infrastructure and service delivery.
The initiative has helped expand diagnostic and healthcare services at primary health centres, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant facilities for treatment.
