AP: YSRCP Doctors Wing voices concern at raising malaria, dengue cases

Vijayawada, Oct 12 (UNI) Chairman of YSRCP NTR District Doctors Wing Dr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav has voiced concern over rising cases of malaria, dengue and seasonal fevers.
Radhakrishna on Monday submitted a representation at the Office of the Director of Public Health & Family Welfare, regarding the rising cases of and seasonal fevers in the State.
In his representation, Dr. Ambati stated that following the recent rains, there has been a worrying rise in vector-borne and seasonal illnesses across Andhra Pradesh.
He said that as per media reports, the State has recorded 8,354 malaria cases up to September 20th, marking a 30.84% increase compared to the corresponding period last year, with malaria deaths rising from 2 to 11.
Dengue cases have also increased to 1,747 cases with two deaths reported. He expressed particular concern over Alluri Sitharama Raju district which alone reported 3,309 malaria cases, along with increasing fever cases in several districts and reports of diarrhoeal illness linked to contaminated water and food.
Dr. Ambati urged the Directorate to take immediate preventive action by intensifying vector-control and anti-larval measures, strengthening fever surveillance and testing, ensuring adequate stocks of medicines and diagnostic kits, deploying sufficient field staff in high-burden areas, and maintaining close monitoring of vulnerable and tribal populations.
Dr. Yadav requested the Director to intervene immediately and issue necessary directions to all concerned district health authorities to prevent further transmission, complications and avoidable deaths.
