Kishan Reddy slams Congress over SIR protests

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday accused the Congress and its allies of politicising the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and targeting constitutional institutions following electoral defeats.
Talking to the media in New Delhi, he urged the Congress to use its booth-level agents to identify and rectify errors in electoral rolls instead of staging protests. He said removing deceased and duplicate voters was necessary to maintain accurate electoral rolls.
Questioning the Congress’s criticism of the Election Commission and EVMs, Kishan Reddy pointed out that the party had also lost elections conducted using ballot papers. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi was attempting to pressure constitutional authorities, including the Election Commission and the judiciary.
He also criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over allegations of voter deletions, stating that the SIR exercise in Telangana was being conducted by state government officials.
Kishan Reddy alleged that protests in Delhi had disrupted public life and affected traders during the festive season. Defending restrictions on demonstrations, he said designated protest venues had been provided in Delhi to maintain law and order.
