Ramachandra Rao finalised as Telangana BJP President; nomination today, election on July 1

Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) The suspense over the next president of the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to an end, with the party high command finalising the name of senior leader and former MLC Ramachandra Rao for the top post.

Following the directive from the central leadership, Ramachandra Rao is set to file his nomination at 1400 hours on Monday, party sources said.

The sources added that the BJP leadership has been engaged in detailed deliberations over the past few weeks to identify a consensus candidate for the state president’s post.

Among the frontrunners were prominent leaders, including MPs Etala Rajender, Dharmapuri Arvind, Dr K Laxman, and Ramachandra Rao. In order to avoid internal competition and ensure a smooth election process, the high command arrived at a consensus on Ramachandra Rao’s candidature.

Nominations for the Telangana BJP president post will be accepted at the party’s state office in Nampally between 1400 hours and 1600 hours today. The scrutiny of nominations and the window for withdrawal will be conducted from 1600 hours to 1700 hours. The election and formal announcement of the new state president are scheduled for July 1.

A total of 119 state council members, 38 district branch presidents, and 17 national council members will participate in the presidential election process.

The party has already conducted a preparatory meeting to streamline the election proceedings. The meeting was held at a convention centre near Manneguda in Rangareddy district, where key leaders, including party state in-charge Abhay Patil and organisational in-charge Chandrashekhar Tiwari, issued guidelines to the state leadership on the election process.
