Congress committed to strengthening party from grassroots: TPCC President

Hyderabad, June 7 (UNI) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday said that the party is firmly committed to strengthening its base from the grassroots level.

The Karimnagar Parliament Constituency Review Meeting was held at Gandhi Bhavan, chaired by Mahesh Kumar Goud. The meeting aimed to evaluate party performance and reinforce the organizational structure ahead of the upcoming elections.

AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Government Whip Adi Srinivas, PCC Advisory Committee member Jeevan Reddy, MLC Balamuri Venkat, MLA and DCC President Kavampally Satyanarayana, and several senior leaders attended the session.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Kumar Goud described the appointment of Meenakshi Natarajan as AICC in-charge as “auspicious” and praised her leadership. He stressed the need to revitalise the party from the booth and village levels, urging leaders and cadres to work with renewed enthusiasm, especially while in power.

He asserted that the Congress has a real chance to retain power, provided the party functions efficiently and remains people-centric. “The government is functioning transparently, without any deception, and has launched several welfare schemes — ranging from free bus travel to distribution of fine rice,” he stated.

Goud acknowledged the growing discontent among grassroots workers and underlined the importance of better coordination and engagement. He called on leaders to focus on critical areas such as employment, education, and healthcare, adding that the government’s efforts in these sectors have not received the publicity they deserve.

On internal matters, he said the expansion of the PCC Executive and State Cabinet is expected to be completed in June. He urged MLAs to introspect and evaluate their performance, noting that the majority need to significantly improve to ensure better outcomes in the local body elections.

Highlighting the Congress party’s progressive measures, Goud cited the provision of 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) and the scientific caste survey as landmark achievements. He criticised BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari and Amit Shah for their lack of interest in these socially important issues.

“While there are minor challenges within the party, we must work collectively to overcome them and move forward with unity and determination,” he added. UNI VV SSP
