Power crisis in Kerala due to previous LDF Govt's negligence, lack of foresight: Forward Bloc

Kollam, Sep 12 (UNI) The ongoing power crisis in Kerala is a result of the negligence and lack of foresight of the Electricity Department during the tenure of the previous government, All India Forward Bloc National General Secretary G. Devarajan said here on Saturday.
He said the decision to cancel, without proper consideration, the long-term agreement for 465 MW of power with Jindal companies had aggravated the present crisis. The agreement was cancelled as the Electricity Department failed to negotiate with the companies in time and in an appropriate manner, he alleged.
The LDF government had ignored the Centre's direction to ensure adequate power availability in the states, anticipating disruptions in power generation and an increase in consumption due to the El Nino phenomenon, Devarajan said.
