Malabar River Festival from July 24 to 27

Kochi, Jun 13 (UNI) The Malabar River Festival featuring Kerala’s premier Whitewater Kayaking event is back with its 11th edition, scheduled from July 24 to 27, 2025, promising adrenaline-filled action in the rivers of Kozhikode.
Held across the scenic Chalipuzha and Iruvazhinjipuzha rivers near Thusharagiri, this international kayaking event continues to reinforce Kerala's position as a leading hub for adventure sports in India.
Organised by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS), District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and the Kozhikode District Panchayat - with technical oversight from the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA) - the event has consistently drawn professional and amateur kayakers from across the globe.
The 2025 edition will feature competitive events in both open and amateur categories. Participants will test their skills in Kayak Cross and Downriver Time Trial events, with classifications based on paddling experience.
The Open Category, designed for seasoned kayakers with Class 3 or above paddling proficiency, offers prize-winning races and full participant amenities. The Amateur Category, tailored for paddlers with Class 2 skills, will offer a platform for up-and-coming talents to engage in non-competitive kayaking action.
With strong institutional backing and a scenic natural setting, the Malabar River Festival is more than a sporting event - it is a celebration of Kerala's rivers, its outdoor adventure potential, and its appeal to global adventure travellers.
The festival also supports Kerala Tourism's broader vision to attract new visitors by highlighting offbeat destinations and promoting sustainable, high-value tourism.
Online registration for the 2025 festival will begin soon on the official website of Kerala Adventure Tourism (www.keralaadventure.org).
