Telangana: Mahalakshmi scheme sees 97.20 lakh additional women passengers in three months

Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) The Telangana government’s Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme witnessed a significant rise in women passengers during July, August and September 2026, with an additional 97.20 lakh passengers availing the facility compared to the same period last year.
According to TGSRTC data, total passenger travel during the three months increased from 3,467.91 lakh in 2025 to 3,565.11 lakh in 2026. TGSRTC has increased the number of bus trips and introduced additional services on several high-demand inter-district and major routes to manage the passenger rush.
TGSRTC VC & MD Y. Nagi Reddy said officials were closely monitoring passenger demand and arranging additional buses and trips wherever required. He added that plans were also being prepared to operate special services during the upcoming festive season to ensure women passengers face no inconvenience.
