Several TN dists to get rains giving relief from summer-like heat, orange, yellow alerts issued

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) Several districts of Tamil Nadu will experience heav to very heavy rains due to prevailing systems over the bay prompting the Met office to issue orange and yellow alerts alerting the government to take precautionary measures bringing respite to the people who had been experiencing summer like heat wave during the last few days.
In an update on Sunday, Met office said under the influence of Yesterday’s upper air cyclonic circulation over North Andaman Sea and neighbourhood a Low Pressure area formed over same region at 1730 hrs yesterday and It now lay centred over North Andaman Sea & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
It moved west north westwards and was lying over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea today. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal tomorrow and intensify into a Deep Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal the day after.
Continuing to move west-northwestwards it is very likely to reach Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal near North Andhra Pradesh - South Odisha coasts around 23rd September morning.
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
An East-West trough runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with the Low Pressure Area over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea to South Interior Karnataka across central Bay of Bengal and south Andhra Pradesh and extends upto
5.8 km above mean seal level tilting southwards with height.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places with thunderstorm & lightning with gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over Sivagangai, Pudukottai, Thanjavur and Madurai districts of Tamilnadu (orange alert issued). Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places with thunderstorm & lightning with gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Tiruchirapalli, Cuddalore, Tirupattur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area (yellow alert)

Moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm & lightning with gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places is likely to occur over rest Tamil Nadu.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places with thunderstorm & lightning with gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Pudukottai, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Sivagangai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Cuddalore, Tirupattur, Vellore and Tiruchirappalli districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
Moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm & lightning with gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places is likely to occur over rest Tamil Nadu.
The rains will continue for the next 1-2 days and the forecast for Chennai city and suburbs is that Light/Moderate rain with thunderstorm and lighting is likely to occur in some areas during evening/night.
