Gulveer strikes 10,000m silver, Manpreet bags maiden Asian Games medal

Aichi-Nagoya, Sept 25 (UNI) Gulveer Singh delivered another long-distance podium finish while Manpreet Kaur finally broke through for a major Asian Games medal as India added two athletics medals on a productive Day Six of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games here on Friday.
Gulveer, the national record holder, produced a determined run to win silver in the men’s 10,000m, clocking 28:29.38. Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew claimed gold in 28:27.51, while Albert Kiptoo of Kenya took bronze in 28:34.38.
The silver extended Gulveer’s Asian Games medal haul to two, following his bronze at Hangzhou in 2023. It also added another international podium to a breakthrough run that includes the Asian Championships title last year and silver at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Joyce, regarded as one of the best batsmen to come out of the Irish cricket system, enjoyed an illustrious career with the national setup between 2011 and 2018.
