Pranavi Urs grabs three-shot lead, eyes Asian Games golf gold

Aichi-Nagoya, Oct 2 (UNI) Pranavi Urs turned the Asian Games women's golf competition into a two-horse race after a stunning third-round 66 gave the Indian a three-shot lead going into Saturday's decisive final round.
The 23-year-old Indian moved to 15-under 195 with her four-under effort on Friday, pulling clear of Singapore's Shannon Tan, who is on 12-under, while China's Ruoning Yin is third at 11-under.
Pranavi's surge has been built on remarkable consistency. She opened with a four-under 66 before producing a bogey-free seven-under 63 in the second round. Her latest 66 ensured she remained in control despite Tan and Yin staying within striking distance.
The Indian now has 18 holes between herself and an Asian Games gold medal, but the margin is not large enough for complacency, with Tan three shots back and Yin four behind.
Pranavi's performance has also lifted India's hopes in the team event. The Indian women's team is second at 11-under, four shots behind China, with the final round offering an opportunity to close the gap.
Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, however, have struggled to match Pranavi's scoring. Both are tied 18th at five-over and are virtually out of individual medal contention.
Pranavi's emergence as India's leading medal contender has been one of the major developments of the golf competition. While Aditi came into the Games with a higher international profile, Pranavi has produced the scores when it mattered, combining aggression with control over three rounds.
The final round will now decide whether Pranavi can convert her commanding position into India's first individual women's golf gold at these Games.
