Spain's problems grow ahead of women's Euro kickoff as goalkeeper Coll suffers from tonsilitis

Lausanne, June 30 (UNI) Spain's preparations for the forthcoming Women's European Championships have been further complicated by the news that goalkeeper Cata Coll is
suffering from tonsillitis.
Coll has to be considered a doubt after missing Monday's first training session in the Spanish training camp in Lausanne, after being diagnosed with the illness that can take up to a week to recover from.
If the FC Barcelona goalkeeper doesn't recover in time to face Portugal in Spain's opening match on July 3, that would present a problem for coach Montse Tome given that with 27 caps, Coll is a fixture for the reigning world champions, while substitutes Adriana Nanclares has just two caps and Ester Sullastres has made just one international appearance.
The news comes three days after it was confirmed that midfielder and two-times Ballon d'Or winner, Aitana Bonmati was taken to hospital suffering from viral meningitis.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) reported on Sunday that Bonmati has been released from hospital and will join her teammates in Switzerland in the coming days, but she is unlikely to play against Portugal.
There is also still some concern that Bonmati could have infected other members of the squad after spending a week with the squad at the RFEF headquarters just outside of Madrid.
