Sinner ousts veteran Gasquet in emotional farewell

Paris, May 29 (UNI) World No. 2 Jannik Sinner delivered a commanding performance to defeat French veteran Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the second round of the French Open, effectively ending Gasquet's illustrious career on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
The 22-year-old Italian showcased his dominance early, breaking Gasquet at 3-3 in the first set and maintaining his lead to close it out 6-4. Sinner's aggressive baseline play and consistent serving kept Gasquet on the defensive, limiting the Frenchman's opportunities to mount a comeback.
In the second set, Sinner elevated his game, breaking Gasquet twice and conceding only three points on his own serve, leading to a swift 6-2 set win. Gasquet, known for his elegant one-handed backhand and smooth court coverage, struggled to find his rhythm against Sinner's relentless pressure.
