Vizag Navy Marathon scheduled for December 13; registrations to open on October 4

Visakhapatnam, Sep 26 (UNI) The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) will organise the 11th edition of the Vizag Navy Marathon (VNM) on December 13 as part of the Navy Day celebrations, with registrations set to open on October 4.
The marathon, sponsored by the State Bank of India (SBI), will feature four categories — 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K.
Addressing a press conference here today, Race Organiser and INS Kalinga Commanding Officer Commodore S.S. Dhody said the organisers were expecting enthusiastic participation from Visakhapatnam residents to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
He said promotional activities had begun, with a promotional run and conditioning and strength-training programmes being organised at RK Beach.
The event had grown from around 4,000 participants in 2014 to 17,000 in 2025, he said.
Dhody added the marathon route was accredited by the Association of International Marathons and that prize money of approximately Rs 10 lakh would be awarded to the winners.
Participants would receive race kits, T-shirts, medals, refreshments and participation certificates.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the marathon went beyond being a sporting event and reflected a collective commitment to health and well-being.
He encouraged residents to register and experience Visakhapatnam’s scenic surroundings through the event.
