Asian Games: Lifters of DPRK, Kazakhstan break 3 world records in men's 85kg

Nagoya (Japan), Sep 28 (UNI) Ro Kwang Ryol of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea smashed two world records en route to winning the men's 85kg weightlifting title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday, while Alexey Churkin of Kazakhstan also set a world record
in the same category.
Ro produced a 214kg clean and jerk and posted a 379kg total, both new world records, to claim gold. Churkin lifted 173kg in the snatch, a new world record, to take silver.

Asian Games Day 9: China powers to 4x100m relay double, takes six table tennis golds

Nagoya (Japan), Sep 28 (UNI) China swept the men's and women's 4x100m relay titles on Day 9
of the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, while wrapping up the table tennis competition with six of
the seven gold medals.
China defended its women's 4x100m relay title in 42.96 seconds, with Liang Xiaojing, Liu Guoyi, Liu Xiajun and Chen Yujie combining for gold. Thailand took silver in a season-best 43.51, while Japan earned bronze in 43.52, also a season best.

Dublin, Sep 28 (UNI) Ed Joyce joins the Ireland men’s senior side as their high-performance batting coach, after spending nearly six years at the helm for the women’s side as their head coach before stepping down in early 2025.
Joyce, regarded as one of the best batsmen to come out of the Irish cricket system, enjoyed an illustrious career with the national setup between 2011 and 2018.
