IWF announces 17 candidates for Athletes Commission Election

Lausanne (Switzerland), Oct 2 (UNI) The International Weightlifting Federation has announced the candidates for its 2026 Athletes Commission election, which will take place during the IWF World Championships in Ningbo, China, from October 28 to November 6.

In a statement, the IWF said it had completed its review of the candidates in accordance with the federation's constitution, bylaws and Athletes Commission Election Rules.
A total of 17 candidates were announced, including three from Africa, four from Asia, five from Europe, two from Oceania and three from Pan-America, according to Xinhua.

Ten members will be elected to four-year terms, with each of the five continents represented by one woman and one man. Three of the 10 elected members will also serve on the IWF Executive Board.
"The IWF looks forward to welcoming the newly elected Athletes Commission members in Ningbo and to continuing to strengthen the representation and participation of athletes in the governance and development of weightlifting," the federation said.
