CWC27 fever builds as ticket ballot applications soar

Dubai, Nov 2 (UNI) With less than three weeks remaining to register for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 ticket ballot, demand for the tournament continues to grow, with more than 120 million ticket requests received from fans around the world.
2.8 million unique fans from 193 countries have registered their interest in attending the event, which will return to African soil for the first time in 24 years. Also, more than 32 million match registrations have been completed, demonstrating that the demand for tickets is not limited to
high-value fixtures.
The 2027 edition will feature 14 teams and 57 matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The tournament will bring international cricket to 12 host cities, offering fans the opportunity to experience the sport alongside the region’s diverse cultures and communities.
South Africa, the United Kingdom, India, the United States of America and Australia lead the countries registering for the ballot. Furthermore, the African continent alone has generated more than 14.9 million ticket applications.
Fans have until 23:59 CAT on 21 November to register for the ballot and select their preferred matches at tickets.cricketworldcup.com.
Fans who do not register during the ballot window will not be eligible to access tickets through this ballot once it closes.
Fixtures in South Africa have attracted more than 105 million ticket requests across 41 matches at eight venues.
Of these, matches involving South Africa (11 fixtures, including the pre-seeded Super 7 matches) have amassed nearly 26 million ticket requests. In Zimbabwe alone, the accumulated ticket request tally has crossed the 13 million mark, with over 3.3 million ticketing requests for the Zimbabwe v India clash on 24 October at the new Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls, according to ICC.
On the other hand, in Namibia, more than two million tickets have been requested for the six fixtures to be held at Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. Nearly 900,000 of these requests are for the England v Bangladesh match on 8 October.
The highly anticipated India versus Pakistan clash at the Wanderers Stadium on October 10 has received more than eight million requests (8,397,294), while the final, scheduled for 21 November
at the same venue, is closely trailing behind with close to 8 million requests (7,900,944).
ICC General Manager, Events and Operations, Gaurav Saxena said, “The response to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 has been outstanding. This level of demand reflects the global appeal of the tournament and the significance of bringing the Men’s Cricket World Cup back to Africa for the first time in 24 years. The strong interest across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia proves the scale of the opportunity to deliver a world-class event that connects fans across the continent and around the world.
“With just 19 days remaining before the ballot closes on 21 November, we encourage fans who have not yet registered to do so and secure their opportunity to be part of this historic edition of the tournament.”
ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Local Organising Committee CEO Qondisa Ngwenya looked forward to an extraordinary tournament next year.
“The extraordinary demand for tickets is a powerful indication of the excitement surrounding the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 and the opportunity it presents for South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. With just under 15 million ticket applications from across Africa, alongside strong interest from fans around the world, the tournament is already bringing people together in anticipation of what will be an unforgettable event for our region.
“Beyond the cricket, this is an opportunity to showcase the people, cultures and hospitality of our three nations to a global audience and create lasting memories for fans, communities and visitors alike.”
With the ballot closing on November 21, fans are encouraged to register and select their preferred fixtures before the deadline to secure their opportunity to be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
