Prasidh to miss NZ ODIs, focus on building fitness for Test series

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of India's five-match ODI series against New Zealand as he continues his recovery from a left hamstring injury. The fast bowler will instead join India A for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A, while Mohammed Siraj will be available for the second game.
The BCCI said Prasidh needs more time to build the workload required to return to competitive cricket. Missing the ODI series will allow him to get match practice and prepare for the two-Test series, which begins on November 19, following the ODIs scheduled from November 4 to 15.
Prasidh had suffered the injury during the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, when he walked off after bowling five overs. The selectors have not named a replacement for him. Jasprit Bumrah, who will feature only in the Test series, is also expected to turn out for India A in the final four-day match.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy will remain with the senior squad only for the first ODI on November 4 before joining India A for the third four-dayer, starting November 7. The move is aimed at giving the all-rounder valuable red-ball match practice ahead of the Test series, which carries significant importance for India's World Test Championship campaign.
