Ranji Trophy: Returning Mhatre suffers hamstring tear during Mumbai’s innings’ win against Chandigarh

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre has suffered a grade 4 tear in his right hamstring, dealing a setback to the youngster at the start of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season in which the 42-time Ranji champions recorded an innings victory over Chandigarh.
The 19-year-old is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, although recovery from a grade 4 hamstring tear can take considerably longer, potentially three months or more, depending on the severity of the injury and his response to rehabilitation.
Interestingly, the Ranji opener was Mhatre’s first match in nearly six months after injuring his left hamstring while batting for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL earlier this year. He spent the previous three months at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, undergoing treatment and rehabilitation for the injury.
