Vijay Mallya hails Virat Kohli’s 18-year loyalty

Bengaluru, June 4 (UNI) Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya on Wednesday described the franchise’s maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win as the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream, spotlighting Virat Kohli’s 18-year loyalty to the team as the emotional core of the triumph.
"I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years,” Mallya said in a heartfelt social media post, following RCB's historic win in the 2025 IPL final.
Founded in 2008 under Mallya’s ownership, RCB had long been regarded as the IPL’s perennial underachievers despite boasting some of the biggest names in world cricket. The 2025 title win, coming after nearly two decades of heartbreaks, near-misses, and unwavering fan support, marked a watershed moment in the franchise's journey.
