Tripura girls bring laurels in Western Asian Youth Chess Championship

Agartala, Nov 2 (UNI) Tripura celebrated a major achievement at the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2026 in Gujarat.
Two young players from Tripura, Aaradhya Das and Arshiya Das, returned with four medals between them.
Aaradhya won silver in the Under-12 Girls Classical event. Her result came in the classical format, where players have more time to consider each move and plan their games.
Arshiya earned three bronze medals in the Under-16 category: one each in Classical, Rapid and Blitz. These events use different time controls, so her medal tally reflects strong play across three distinct formats.
Their results brought recognition to Tripura at a major regional youth chess championship. When the players arrived at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, a delegation from the All Tripura Chess Association welcomed them and offered congratulations.
Association President Abhijit Moulick praised both players for their performances and wished them continued success in their chess careers. Their achievements have given young chess players across Tripura new examples of what steady effort and skill can accomplish, while bringing pride to their home state.
