Kolkata: Three-stage frisking, 2,000 cops to secure Salt Lake Stadium for Brazil clash

Kolkata, Sep 30 (UNI) Fans heading to Salt Lake Stadium for the India-Brazil football clash on October 3 will have to pass through three layers of security, with even water bottles, umbrellas, flag poles, selfie-sticks and tripods barred from the venue as police prepare for a series of international matches in Kolkata.
Around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed for the Brazil match, with Bidhannagar City Police combining ground-level security with CCTV surveillance, plainclothes personnel and mobile patrol teams to maintain security inside and around the stadium, a senior officer said.
The arrangements will cover not only the Brazil fixture but also India’s match against Uruguay on October 6 and the Indian women’s team’s two matches against Russia on October 8 and 11.
