Eritrea's Seare, Ethiopia's Amebaw win 5km titles at World Road Running Championships

Oslo, Sep 20 (UNI) Eritrea's Dawit Seare and Ethiopia's Likina Amebaw won the men's and women's 5km titles respectively at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen.
Seare overtook Olympic 5,000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the closing stages to win in an Eritrean record of 12 minutes 56 seconds on Saturday.
The Norwegian, racing on his 26th birthday, took silver in a national record of 12:59, while Eritrea's 19-year-old Saymon Amanuel claimed bronze in 13:00.

Nagoya (Japan), Sep 28 (UNI) China swept the men's and women's 4x100m relay titles on Day 9
of the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, while wrapping up the table tennis competition with six of
the seven gold medals.
China defended its women's 4x100m relay title in 42.96 seconds, with Liang Xiaojing, Liu Guoyi, Liu Xiajun and Chen Yujie combining for gold. Thailand took silver in a season-best 43.51, while Japan earned bronze in 43.52, also a season best.

Dublin, Sep 28 (UNI) Ed Joyce joins the Ireland men’s senior side as their high-performance batting coach, after spending nearly six years at the helm for the women’s side as their head coach before stepping down in early 2025.
Joyce, regarded as one of the best batsmen to come out of the Irish cricket system, enjoyed an illustrious career with the national setup between 2011 and 2018.
