Maha: Six killed, 4 injured after portion of building collapses in Thane

Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) Six people, including four women and a two-year-old child, were killed and four others were injured after a portion of a four-storey building in Kalyan city of neighbouring Thane district collapsed on the lower floors on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
According to sources in the Fire Brigade, the incident occurred at around 2:15 PM in the Saptashrungi building located in Karpewadi area of Kalyan East when a portion of the inside of the building caved in from the second floor to the ground floor, resulting in the death and injury of the residents.
The deceased were identified as Namaswi Shrikant Shelar (2), Pramila Kalcharan Sahu (56), Sunita Neelanchal Sahu (38), Sushila Narayan Gujar (78), Venkat Bhima Chavan (42) and Sujata Manoj Wadi (38).
The building was declared as a dangerous building and a vacation notice was also issued, an official said.
