Internal rift galvanises NCP as leaders approach Amit Shah, Sunetra Pawar convenes MLA meet

Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) The internal turmoil within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) following the tragic demise of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has reached a boiling point, with senior party leaders taking their grievances to union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Sources said union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed strong displeasure over the ongoing friction within the NCP during a meeting with senior leaders in the national capital, warning that the internal disarray is adversely affecting the Mahayuti state government's performance and image.
The flashpoint triggering the turmoil was recent key appointments made by Parth Pawar, including to the positions of national spokesperson and Mumbai party president. Senior leaders, including NCP State President Sunil Tatkare, Praful Patel, Cabinet Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister Hasan Mushrif, and former minister Dhananjay Munde, reportedly expressed deep dissatisfaction over being bypassed, stating they learned of the appointments only through media reports.
Following the Delhi meeting, a series of high-level discussions took place in Mumbai, including a meeting at Chhagan Bhujbal’s residence and a subsequent Core Committee gathering, where senior leaders voiced their resentment over the decision-making process.
In the wake of the growing rift, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has convened an urgent meeting of all NCP MLAs at her official residence 'Devgiri' at 7 pm this evening. This is the first such joint gathering of party legislators in nearly four months, acquiring political significance ahead of Diwali.
Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil downplayed allegations of a rift, asserting that the meeting between senior party leaders and Amit Shah in Delhi was pre-scheduled. "Certain elements are deliberately trying to create a false narrative of division within the NCP to sow discord," Patil stated.
The developments follow sharp criticism from opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who alleged that both the NCP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena factions are operating under central dictation and are bound to merge with the BJP. UNI NEP NST MCR
