NSDC raises Rs 4 crore via zero coupon bonds, lists on NSE’s Social Stock Exchange

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) raised Rs 4 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) through its maiden issuance of Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) instruments on the National Stock Exchange’s (NSE) Social Stock Exchange (SSE).
Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, rang the bell to mark the debut of NSDC debut on the Social Stock Exchange.
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) contributed ₹4 crore towards a new initiative focused on skill development and global employment. The programme will support 600 young people from economically weaker Other Backward Class (OBC) families in Madhya Pradesh and prepare them for international employment opportunities.
Shri Chaudhary said: “India’s progress must be accompanied by investment in its people. The government can create an enabling framework, but development at scale requires public institutions, private investors and donors to work together. The Social Stock Exchange connects this collective commitment with credible projects, transparency and verifiable outcomes.”
With a budget of approximately ₹11.25 crore, the programme adopts a blended-finance structure comprising three complementary funding sources. Beneficiary contributions will account for 15% of the total programme cost, funding raised through the Social Stock Exchange will provide 35%, and the remaining 50% will be provided by the Government of Madhya Pradesh once candidates have been successfully placed in jobs internationally.
The ZCZP framework enables eligible social-purpose organisations to raise resources without any obligation to repay conventional interest or principal. It emphasises the transparent use of funds and reporting of social outcomes.
