FDA confiscates gutka worth Rs 16 lakh in Nanded crackdown

Nanded, June 27 (UNI) Authorities in Maharashtra confiscated contraband gutka and pan masala valued at approximately 16.28 lakh rupees during a targeted raid at Deglaur Naka in Nanded.
The operation, conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), followed intelligence received by Assistant Commissioners Sanjay Chatte and Ram Bharkard.
Acting on confidential information, a team of food safety officers targeted "Diamond Traders," a shop located near Aamir Function Hall. An FDA press release said the raid was executed in the presence of shop occupants Syed Mubeen Syed Ghani (51) and Azimuddin Abdul Hameed (40). Officers discovered substantial quantities of banned substances, including Rajnvas Khushboodar Paan Masala, Vimal Paan Masala, Director Special Paan Masala, AAA Paan Masala, Musafar Paan Masala, RMD Paan Masala, Rajni Gandha Paan Masala, Signature Paan Masala, Sitar Gutkha, and other prohibited fragrant tobacco products.
The seized items, with a total estimated market value of 16,28,049 rupees, were subsequently handed over to Athara Police Station.
Food Safety Officer Santosh Kankavde has filed a formal complaint against Ghani and Hameed under relevant sections of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Indian Penal Code. UNI AAA SSP
