IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai, warns of rainfall with thunderstorms

Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for June 5, while warning of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Mumbai and its metropolitan regions for the next couple of days.
"The warning is issued because of upper air cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat and neighbourhoods between 1.5 & 3.1 km above mean sea level. Generally, southwesterly to westerly winds prevail in the lower levels over the region. As a result, there is a possibility of rainfall with thunderstorms in the next two days and an alert has been issued," said IMD Mumbai scientist Sushma Nair on Wednesday.
Due to change in weather conditions, the humidity will also increase. However due to drop in temperature and rain spells, the discomfort feeling will not be witnessed," she added.
