Mumbai airport ends pact with Turkish firm after India revokes clearance

Mumbai, May 16 ( UNI) Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has terminated its contract with Turkish aviation company Celebi after the Indian government revoked its security clearance, citing national security concerns, officials said on Friday.
According to a statement issued on behalf of Mumbai & Ahmedabad airports, the ground handling concession agreements with Celebi at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) were terminated following the government's decision to revoke Celebi's security clearance.
"Celebi has been directed to immediately hand over all ground handling facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations," said an airport spokesperson.
"We will continue to provide seamless service to all airlines without disruptions through new ground handling agencies selected by us. All existing employees of Celebi at CSMIA and SVPIA will be transferred to the new ground handling agencies on their existing terms and conditions of employment," the spokesperson said.
The airports have promised that ground handling operations at the airports will remain unaffected and that they are fully committed to upholding the highest standards of service in national interest.
