BJP spokesperson asks Sanjay Raut to apologise to people over alleged misinformation

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) BJP Maharashtra chief spokesperson Navnath Ban on Friday demanded that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut apologise to the people of the state and country, accusing him of misleading the public and making false statements.
Reacting to Raut's reported apology to the Supreme Court, Ban alleged that he should also apologise to the 14 crore people of Maharashtra and 140 crore citizens of the country.
Ban also raised several issues, including the Palghar sadhu killings, the death of Disha Salian, the Patra Chawl case and the demand for justice by a woman identified as Patkar.
On the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Ban accused Raut and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the public over claims that 13 crore voters had been excluded.
He claimed that the figure included duplicate, deceased and migrated voters, while eligible voters could seek inclusion in the electoral rolls by submitting Form 6.
Criticising the opposition's stand on SIR, Ban alleged that its leaders were opposing the process for political reasons. He also questioned the organisers of the proposed Tiranga rally, accusing them of seeking a change of government under the guise of protecting the Constitution. Ban said that any such rally should aim to protect the country rather than create unrest.
