‘Hamas won’ as young Israelis called for killing Gaza babies: Yair Lapid

Jerusalem, Oct 2 (UNI)Amid the continuing criticism within Israel over rhetoric and policies surrounding the war in Gaza,Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has recalled a “painful” meeting with a group of young Israelis who, he said, expressed support for killing Palestinians in Gaza, including babies, arguing that there were “no innocents” in the enclave. He further questioned the government's approach toward countries critical of Israel, saying that cutting diplomatic ties or closing embassies was not in the country's interests.
“Anti-Israel rhetoric in Ireland and Spain was unacceptable,” Lapid said, while questioning the usefulness of closing Israel’s embassy in Dublin or recalling its ambassador from Madrid.
He said he would instead prefer to travel to such countries and engage directly with Israel’s critics rather than boycott them.
