Trump picks Reflecting Pool renovation in final midterm pitch as voters focus on economy

Washington, Nov 3 (UNI) President Donald Trump delivered an unusual final campaign pitch ahead of the midterm elections, choosing the newly renovated, USD 14 million Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington DC as the venue for what is expected to be his last major public appearance before voters head to the polls.
On the eve of a consequential Election Day, Trump stood before the newly reopened pool and spoke at length about its renovation, detailing changes to its piping system, surrounding grass and granite. The appearance came amid polling suggesting that many voters believe the President has become too focused on construction and beautification projects in the nation's capital.
The choice of venue raised questions about his campaign strategy, particularly when millions of Americans are grappling with high inflation and the rising cost of living. The reflecting pool, which had attracted public criticism over reports of algae and discoloured water, provided an unusual backdrop for the President's final campaign message.
