Tehran/Berlin, June 29 (UNI) German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has condemned threats by Iranian officials against International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi and his team, amid increased resentment against him and the IAEA in the country, reports Iran International.



"Threats against them from within Iran are deeply troubling and must stop...I call on the Iranian authorities to fully cooperate with the IAEA and to ensure the safety of its personnel," he said in a post on X.



He urged Tehran to ensure their safety and fully cooperate with the UN watchdog.



The Islamic Republic last week passed a bill in its Parliament suspending cooperation with IAEA, calling the nuclear watchdog a political and non-neutral entity, accusing it of biased reports and being completely anti-Iran rather than an objective party with no side or political affiliations.



Resentment against the IAEA has only increased since the ceasefire, especially against Grossi, whom Iranian lawmakers have accused of aiding Israeli attacks on its nuclear infrastructure.



Abolfazl Zohrevand, a member of the country’s National Security Committee, accused Grossi of aiding US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites and the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists.



“The role of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in inciting and aiding US and Israeli attacks on nuclear sites and the assassination of nuclear scientists is completely clear,” he said.



“Grossi has shown that he is unfit to hold this position and should be dealt with.”
