Islamabad, June 20 (UNI) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the country has been striving to improve the healthcare system for a healthy future.
"Providing the best possible healthcare facilities to the people remains Pakistan's top priority. The country has been implementing enhanced health reforms, ensuring a merit-based and transparent approach across the board," the prime minister said while chairing a high-level meeting on national health affairs.
Talking about measures the government has taken, he said that the deployment of advanced technology to eliminate the illegal trade of medicines amid a zero-tolerance policy was successfully implemented with stringent oversight mechanisms.
Highlighting the importance of international standards, Sharif encouraged Pakistani pharmaceutical companies to seek accreditation from the World Health Organisation, saying it would not only enhance the quality of local medicines but also open doors to export opportunities.
He said that efforts were underway to operationalise newly established basic health units, regional blood centers, and an isolation hospital and infectious treatment center in the capital Islamabad.
