Lebanese President Joseph Aoun pledges to ensure Israeli withdrawal from nation’s southern region

Beirut, Sep 12 (UNI) Making a surprise visit to southern Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun pledged to secure an Israeli withdrawal from the region and oversee the reconstruction of the area.
Aoun arrived unannounced in the city of Nabatieh accompanied by senior security officials, including Army Commander Gen Rodolphe Haykal, according to official Lebanese media.
The visit came a day after a senior US diplomatic official said a new round of US-brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon, originally scheduled for next week, had been postponed until October.
