Tanzania: JNHPP mega hydropower project full operational

Dar es Salaam, Apr 6 (UNI) The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) is fully operational after the activation of all nine turbines, Deputy Prime Minister Doto Biteko said Saturday.
"All nine turbines are fully operational, collectively generating 2,115 megawatts," said Biteko, also minister of energy, during an inspection tour of the mega power project.
He said that the first turbine was switched on in February 2024, and now all turbines, each generating 235 megawatts, are fully operational.
