Washington, Apr 5 (UNI) In a communication error, the Trump administration accidently told Ukrainian refugees living in the US to leave the country as their legal status had been revoked. The email, mistakenly sent by the Department of Homeland Security, asked them to self-parole.
According to CBS News, the notice sent on April 3 read "DHS is now exercising its discretion to terminate your parole,” referring to the temporary parole status granted to Ukrainian refugees under the Joe Biden administration. The notice further read "Unless it expires sooner, your parole will terminate seven days from the date of this notice."
It is unclear how many Ukrainians received the message, though it ended up causing hysteria and panic among those who got the notification, baffling them why their temporary legal status had been suddenly revoked.
