NFC-Kota project has achieved about 96 pc physical progress: Official

Hyderabad, June 6 (UNI) :Nuclear Fuel complex (NFC) Chief Executive and Distinguished Scientist Dr. Komal Kapoor, on Friday informed that the prestigious project “NFC-Kota” has achieved physical progress of about 96 per cent.
The project facilities related to fuel tube production were inaugurated in March 2025 and production commenced with the available resources, said Dr Komal Kapoor.
Participating in the Hyderabad-based NFC Day celebrations, commemorating the first nuclear fuel bundle production, way back in June 1973 here, he said one module to produce 250 TPY of nuclear fuel is also in the last leg of commissioning having required regulatory clearances is expected to be commissioned by the end of the year.
Narrating the significant developments in the year 2024-25, Dr Komal Kapoor said NFC, while making the nation self- reliant in nuclear fuel fabrication, is seen to excel in implementation of automation & mechanization in the thrust areas of fuel fabrication; development of state-of-the art equipment; while continuing to meet the set annual production targets for 2024-25.
NFC continued to play a pivotal role in extending its services to strategic sectors of Defence and Space with supply of sophisticated & critical components, he said.
NFC had also completed several of its augmentation projects during the year, he added.
Renowned Scientist Dr. R. B. Grover, Member, Atomic Energy Commission & Former Principal Advisor, DAE, who was the chief guest at the event, expressed that contributions of NFC in leading the Country towards the goal of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” is very significant and NFC shall continue to surpass its achievements year after year towards meeting the mandate of Department of Atomic Energy.
Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murty, Chairman & Managing Director, MIDHANI , who was the Guest of Honor at the event, acknowledged the efforts of NFC and expressed his happiness on the mutual collaboration between MIDHANI and NFC in varied fields of expertise.
