Nitish distributes appointment letters to the 21,391 cops

Patna, June 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today instructed the police administration to take stern action against criminals and trouble mongers and hoped that the newly appointed police personnel will discharge their responsibilities with utmost care.
While distributing appointment letters to the newly appointed 21391 police personnel here, Kumar said that there is rule on law in the state since his government came to power on November 24, 2005.
Speaking about the law and order situation in the previous government, Kumar said that no one dared to step out of their house at that time. He said the police strength was too low and against a sanctioned strength of 51000, only 42481 police personnel were in the work force.
After coming to power, Kumar said his government continuously increased the strength of police by making fresh appointments. To increase the number of women cops, 35% reservation provision was made for the section in the year 2013.
Appreciating the performance of women cops he said with the appointment made during the day the strength of women in the police force has increased to nearly 36000.
Kumar said his government sanctioned to increase the police strength up to 229000 in the year 2023 and to fill the vacancies the appointments were being made at an accelerated pace. He said 55,000 vacant posts were being filled through promotion whereas direct appointments were being made for 64000 post.
In addition to this, the process for appointment off 42609 Cops has been initiated, he said adding that speedy appointment on the rest of 22771 post would be made.
The Chief Minister said that he has already instructed the officers concerned to ensure that there should be no resources crunch for police administration. In addition to modernisation of the police system, other infrastructures were also being upgraded to them for their better functioning and performance.
