Bhubaneswar, June 16 (UNI) The Odisha Government on Monday approved eight transformative industrial projects, with a total investment of Rs.1,51,239.50 crore, expected to generate over 60,200 job opportunities.
The approvals were granted during the 41st High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
These projects span across six districts—Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Khordha, and Sambalpur—and cover strategic sectors including Aluminium, Chemicals, Steel, Textiles, and Ancillary & Downstream Metal industries.
Official sources said in the aluminium Sector, Vedanta Ltd will establish a 3 MTPA Aluminium Smelter and a 4,900 MW Captive Power Plant (CPP) in Dhenkanal, with a landmark investment of Rs.1,28,000 crore.
This single mega project is projected to create 30,000 jobs, reinforcing Odisha’s status as a global aluminium hub.
In the Chemicals Sector, SRF Ltd will set up a specialty chemicals and refrigerant manufacturing unit with an annual capacity of 2 lakh MT in Ganjam, involving an investment of Rs.10,000 crore:
Jindal India Steel Tech Ltd will invest Rs.3,600 crore to establish a 1.26 MTPA specialty steel processing facility in Dhenkanal.
Shyam Steel Manufacturing Ltd plans to invest Rs.2,490 crore in Keonjhar to set up a 0.53 MTPA integrated steel plant, DI pipe unit, and a 46 MW CPP.
Similarly, Linde India Ltd will invest Rs.1,303.50 crore to establish an Air Separation Unit in Jajpur to supply high-quality industrial gases.
Star Metal Works Pvt Ltd will set up a narrow hot strip mill, cold rolling mill, and plate cum Steckel mill in Sambalpur, with an investment of Rs.2,291 crore.
Supreme Metals Export Pvt Ltd plans to establish a 1.2 MTPA rolling mill for TMT bars and wire rods in Keonjhar, with an investment of Rs.1,500 crore.
In the Textiles Sector, Sportking India Ltd will invest Rs.2,055 crore in Khordha to establish a cotton and blended yarn manufacturing unit with an annual capacity of 62,000 MT.
The projects approved during the 41st HLCA meeting reflect Odisha’s strong commitment to industrial growth, employment generation, and inclusive economic development.
Following the approval, Chief Minister Majhi stated that since taking office, his government has conducted six HLCA meetings, including the current one, and cleared a total of 62 projects.
These projects represent investment potential worth Rs.5.67 lakh crore and have the capacity to create around 2.42 lakh jobs.
He further remarked that this progress marks a significant step toward achieving the national vision of 'Viksit Bharat by 2047' and Odisha’s goal of 'Samruddha Odisha by 2036'.
"Odisha is confidently progressing toward becoming a leading industrial and investment destination in India," the Chief Minister affirmed.
