Odisha BJP President suspends Corporator & four others for assaulting a senior BMC Official

Bhubaneswar, July 1 (UNI) Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal today suspended five party workers for their involvement in the assault of senior OAS officer and Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Ratikanta Sahoo.
The suspended members include Corporator Aparup Narayan Raut, Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, Debashish Pradhan, Sachikanth Swain, and Sanjeev Mishra.All of them have been suspended
from the primary membership of the party.
Of the five, three—Raut, Mohapatra, and Pradhan—have already been arrested by police in connection with the brutal attack on Sahoo.
According to reports, the BMC Additional Commissioner was dragged out of his office chamber while conducting a weekly public grievance hearing. The attackers, in the presence of the BJP Corporator, allegedly kicked and punched the senior OAS officer in full public view, then dragged him to the portico of the office and continued the assault.
Following the incident, Sahoo lodged an FIR, leading to the arrest of the three accused.
The incident sparked widespread outrage and leaders of all political parties, the OAS and IAS officers’ Association have strongly condemned the attack and demanded action against the miscreants.
The OAS Officers' Association, which had threatened a statewide pen-down strike starting today, withdrew the protest after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assured a visiting OAS delegation that strict action would be taken against those involved in the attack.
