Odisha Governor suspends IAS officer Dhiman Chakma over vigilance probe

Bhubaneswar, June 10 (UNI) The Governor of Odisha on Tuesday suspended Dhiman Chakma, IAS, Sub collector Dharamgarh, Kalahandi, with immediate effect, in the wake of a vigilance case against him.
A notification issued by the General Administration Department here said the Governor in exercise of powers conferred under sub rule 3 of the All India Service (Discipline And Appeal) Rules 1969, places Dhiman Chakma, IAS, under suspension with immediate effect.
The IAS officer was suspended as a vigilance case against him is under investigation.
Dhiman Chakma, a 2021-batch IAS officer and Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi, was arrested on Monday by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10 lakh from a local businessman.
Vigilance officials also recovered Rs. 47 lakh from his official residence during a search operation on Sunday.
The order said during the period of suspension, the headquarters of Chakma is fixed at the GA and PG Department, Bhubaneswar and he shall not leave the headquarters without the prior permission of the Governor.
Chakma is allowed to draw subsistence allowance as admissible to him from time to time under rule 4(1) ( a) of the All India Services) Discipline & Appeal) Rules 1969 during the period of suspension.
Such allowances shall not be paid to him unless he furnishes a certificate that he is not engaged in any other employment, business, profession or vocation as required under rule(4) (2) of the said rules.
The said allowance shall be drawn and paid to Chakma by the DDO office of Sub Collector, Dharamgarh, the order said.
