Odisha Govt insensitive towards common people: Congress

Bhubaneswar, June 16 (UNI) Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das today strongly criticised the BJP-led state government, accusing it of being "insensitive" to the plight of common people.
Addressing a press conference here, Das said that although the government is celebrating the completion of its first year in office, it has "failed" to deliver on its election promises.
"The state is witnessing rampant corruption," he alleged. "Ministers and officials are deeply involved in corrupt practices."
Citing specific instances, Das pointed out that a chief engineer was recently caught with disproportionate assets worth several crores of rupees. He further noted that a CBI investigation had led to the arrest of an ED officer, and a young IAS officer was apprehended while accepting a bribe of Rs.10 lakh.
He also alleged massive financial irregularities in the state's paddy procurement system.
"Around Rs. 2,000 crore has been embezzled in the 'dhan mandi' operations," he claimed, adding that farmers are facing severe hardships during paddy procurement.
Referring to the recent deaths of 11 people due to diarrhoea in Jajpur district, Das questioned the state of healthcare in Odisha. "In Jajpur alone, over 400 posts for nurses and doctors remain vacant. Across the state, 200 to 400 medical positions in each district are lying unfilled, highlighting the collapsing healthcare system."
Das further alleged that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana has failed in Odisha. "While the scheme is being widely promoted, hospitals are not admitting patients under it," he said. UNI DP SSP
