Young, maverick, and unbelievably consistent, Gill has become a run machine. His batting is so easy, it gives the illusion that it is not difficult.

He's like that quiet kid who just wins. And, with GT at the top of the list, Gill could take the Orange Cap with a bunch of calm and classy innings.

3. Jos Buttler (RR)

Every time Jos opens, it feels like we are going to experience fireworks. His starts are explosive, and if he makes it through the powerplay without damage, pen down a 100.

He's not just a batter, he changes games. The real game-changer, who gets crowds chanting before he reached a fifty.

4. KL Rahul (LSG) Only silently consistent. 

That's KL for you. Others will hit the ball all over the park, whereas Rahul finds the gaps, keeps the score and then he is at 80 off 50. He may not be the flashiest, but he is the guy that gets to the "finishing line" and that's why there is no way you don't trust him enough to having one end held for the Orange Cap. That is why the man is a contender for the Orange Cap. 

5. Devdutt Padikkal (RR) Climbing up the ranks. 

He has drives which make dreams; also he has temperament that is rocks. He is young and hungry and fearless; all things you want in a potential orange cap winner. Open your eyes because here we take potential and turn it into performance. 

6. David Warner (DC) Somehow Warner still keeps doing Warner things. 

He continues to run hard and hit four's and annoy bowlers. Although he is over 35 years of age, the man bats like its 2016. Don't write him off at this age. He is still a really experienced energetic man who is trying to get one last large season in. 

7.Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) Ruturaj is on a cinematic rise. 

He has so much style, is compact and ice cold under pressure.

He’s got that MS Dhoni-style calmness (probably from all those pep talks). If he keeps up the consistency, don’t be surprised if he finishes top of the charts.

What Does it Take to Win the Orange Cap?

It is not just about how many runs you score. It's about the time you score them. Clutch situations. Pressure games. Last-over chases.

It's about that feeling of going out to bat knowing millions are watching - and delivering regardless. Orange Cap winners are not just great batters and players. They are entertainers. They are warriors. They are craftsmen with a bat.

Who is the Front-runner? 

If you are putting me on a spot (which you kind of already are), it is hard to look past Kohli and Gill. But this is the IPL, and IPL loves suprises. Perhaps a breakout star comes out of nowhere and smashes 600+ runs. Perhaps, a name like Riyan Parag or Tilak Varma ends up exploding onto this list.
