Pant, Digvesh fined for breaching IPL regulations

Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Rishabh Pant, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined following his team's breach of the minimum over-rate regulations during Match 16 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, according to a media advisory.

The match took place against Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on Friday.

As per Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which addresses offences related to slow over-rates, Pant has been fined Rs 12 lakh. This fine is imposed as it was his team’s first offence of the season.

In another disciplinary matter, Digvesh Singh Rathi, the bowler for LSG, has also faced a penalty for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the same match. Singh has been fined 50 percent of his match fees. This breach marks his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season, resulting in two Demerit Points. He had previously accumulated one Demerit Point during LSG’s match against Punjab Kings on April one, 2025.

According to the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision on Level 1 breaches is final and binding. UNI BDN SS
