Phillips' 276-run blitz puts him atop T20I charts against India

Auckland, Oct 30 (UNI) New Zealand's Glenn Phillips has turned the ongoing T20I contest against India into a personal record-breaking campaign, becoming the highest run-getter in a bilateral T20I series against the country with an imposing 276-run tally.
More than just the volume of runs, Phillips' achievement stands out for the company he has left behind. His tally has eclipsed West Indies' Shai Hope, who scored 261 runs against India in 2026, while England's Harry Brook occupies the third spot with 229 runs.
Phillips' prolific run has also strengthened his reputation as one of the most dangerous middle-order batsmen in the shortest format. He has now registered three T20I centuries while batting at number four or lower, joining India's Suryakumar Yadav. Australia's Glenn Maxwell leads that particular list with four hundreds.
His 46-ball century against India in Auckland has further underlined his striking ability, equalling his own second-fastest T20I hundred by a New Zealand batsman. Only Finn Allen's 33-ball assault against South Africa in Kolkata in 2026 is quicker for New Zealand.
Phillips had previously reached three figures in 46 balls against the West Indies at Mount Maunganui in 2020, while Colin Munro's 47-ball hundred against the same opposition in 2018 completes the top four.
The series has also witnessed another explosive contribution from New Zealand, with Michael Bracewell smashing a 19-ball half-century in Auckland. He joined an elite list of batsmen with the fastest T20I fifties against India, alongside Cameron Green, Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook.
South Africa's Marco Jansen holds the record with a 16-ball fifty at Centurion in 2024.
Phillips' 276-run haul, however, remains the defining individual achievement of the series, placing him ahead of some of the biggest names in international T20 cricket.
