PM Modi emptied pockets of those who looted public money: UP CM Yogi

Lucknow, Oct2 (UNI) Targeting the opposition, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that when Jan Dhan accounts were being opened, the opposition used to ridicule the initiative, asking what purpose empty accounts would serve.
“Today, it has become evident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi emptied the pockets of those who used to loot public money and ensured that the poor received their funds directly into their accounts. It is only natural for those who used to pocket public money to feel aggrieved and oppose these measures,” he said.
The Chief Minister was addressing a programme featuring a theatrical presentation based on ‘Namo Seva: Untold Stories’, organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign), here on Friday.
He noted that on October 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will complete 25 years in public service, having served as both the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister of the country. This journey of service has been uninterrupted, unyielding and unwavering. Throughout this period, government schemes were extended to various sections of society without discrimination, while heritage was harmonised with development.
He recalled that PM Modi assumed responsibility for Gujarat on October 7, 2001, at a time when the state was grappling with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. Subsequently, he also faced the challenge of dealing with riots. Amid these circumstances, Gujarat emerged as a rapidly developing state and a model of growth.
The Chief Minister said the country faced a climate of mistrust between 2004 and 2014 due to the corruption, anarchy and inaction of the Congress-led UPA government. There were challenges on both the economic and internal and external security fronts. In 2014, the rural population, the poor, farmers, youth and women placed their faith in the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Subsequently, schemes were formulated with the 140 crore Indians at the centre, transcending considerations of caste, creed, religion, region or language. Previously, schemes were devised but failed to reach the grassroots effectively. Today, amenities such as housing, LPG connections, toilets, health insurance and free rations are reaching the poor.
The Chief Minister noted that new opportunities for startups and employment had been created for the youth. There had been an expansion of highways, expressways, railways, metro networks and airports.
“Never before could a Prime Minister claim that even a person wearing simple flip-flops could travel by air. Prime Minister Modi did not merely speak about this; he turned it into reality,” he said.
October 7 should serve as a day of inspiration for every Indian, he said, adding that this journey was linked to fulfilling the resolve of building a self-reliant and developed India by August 15, 2047.
The Chief Minister said housing had been provided to those who had previously been deprived of it. Toilets had been constructed in the homes of 12 crore poor families. LPG connections had been provided under the Ujjwala Yojana. Those for whom medical treatment was once out of reach had been provided health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.
“Today, no one in the country goes to sleep hungry,” he said, referring to the provision of free foodgrains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
The Chief Minister said that under the ‘double-engine’ government, networks of IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, IIITs and NITs had been established. Medical colleges and engineering institutes were being built. There were now more than 2.5 lakh startups in the country.
“Our youth are no longer merely job seekers but are becoming job creators,” he said.
Furthermore, the initiative to bring 12 crore farmers under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi had been made possible under the leadership of Modi, he said.
Prior to the Chief Minister’s address, artists from the Bharatendu Natya Academy, performing as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which has been underway since September 17 to mark the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service, presented a theatrical performance.
The presentation depicted PM Narendra Modi’s public service journey, ranging from the devastation caused by the 2001 Gujarat earthquake to the reconstruction of Kutch. Appreciating the performance, the Chief Minister directed that it be staged across the state.
CM Yogi suggested incorporating local folk songs and dialects into the performance, including Bhojpuri in Purvanchal, Awadhi in the central region, Braj Bhasha in the Braj region and Bundelkhandi in Bundelkhand.
The Chief Minister praised the child artists and the Bharatendu Natya Academy troupe and posed for photographs with them after the event.
On the occasion, he also paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.UNI MBD AAB
