PM Modi hails Maharishi Valmiki's enduring legacy on jayanti

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to the people on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, highlighting the revered sage's contribution to India's cultural heritage and describing his timeless teachings as a guiding light for humanity across generations.
In a post on the social media platform X, Modi said, "Heartfelt greetings to everyone on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. His noble thoughts have been fundamental to Indian culture and heritage and will continue to help the nation flourish in every era. His invaluable messages for humanity will always serve as a guiding light for the people of the country."
Maharishi Valmiki, revered as the Adi Kavi or the first poet, is traditionally regarded as the author of the Ramayana, one of the most influential epics in Indian literature and spiritual tradition. The epic recounts the life of Lord Rama and explores enduring ideals of truth, righteousness, duty, compassion and devotion.
Valmiki Jayanti is observed in honour of the sage's contribution to literature, philosophy and spiritual thought. His legacy extends beyond the composition of the Ramayana, with the values reflected in the epic continuing to influence India's cultural traditions, religious practices and social life.
Modi's message underscored the continuing relevance of Valmiki's teachings, emphasising their significance not only for India's cultural identity but also for humanity at large. The Prime Minister's tribute highlighted how the sage's literary and philosophical legacy continues to inspire people across generations.
