New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the centenary celebration of the historic conversation between two of India’s most revered spiritual and social reformers — Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi — on Tuesday here.
The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion, according to a statement from the PMO.
The landmark conversation, which took place on March 12, 1925, at Sivagiri Mutt during Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Kerala, focused on key social and moral issues including the Vaikom Satyagraha, religious conversions, non-violence, abolition of untouchability, spiritual liberation and the upliftment of the marginalised.
The event is being organised by the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust, and will bring together spiritual leaders, scholars, and dignitaries to commemorate the enduring legacy of the dialogue, said the statement.
The centenary celebration will serve as a platform to revisit and reflect upon the visionary exchange that continues to influence India’s path toward social equity, unity, and spiritual harmony, it added. UNI AJ SSP
