Police seize Rs 15L in counterfeit currency; One arrested

Hyderabad, June 22 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the Bachupally Police of Cyberabad Commissionerate have arrested a person and seized counterfeit currency worth Rs 15 lakh from him

On credible information, police arrested Prathipati Prem Chandu, hailing from West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh when he was attempting to deliver counterfeit notes in Hyderabad.

According to police, Prem Chandu came into contact with a person named Rakesh, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra, who introduced him to the idea of making easy money by circulating fake currency. Prem Chandu agreed to deliver the forged notes to parties in Hyderabad for a commission.

On Saturday, at approximately 1530 hours, police intercepted the accused near Nizampet Arch, Nizampet Village. During the search, officers recovered Rs 15 lakh in counterfeit Rs 500 denomination and a Redmi mobile phone from his possession.

The accused was immediately taken into custody and produced before the Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody pending further investigation.
